Nice spot! I too have started looking for more isolated spots. Had someone scratch AND dent the living hell out of my door in seemingly one maneuver the other week and they didn't leave a note. No more parking in "general population" for me.

Been lucky so far no dings but I have a white car so it hides it well. Sometimes when someone parks really close to me and just swings open their door without looking I feel there are some near misses. I've found myself backing up and adjusting my car's position a few times after they've left.

Whatever you do, don't park next to a minivan. The kids will swarm out of that thing and, even if they don't swing a door into your car, they will probably bump into it and put sticky hands on it.

My parking space at work is on a quiet side street by the park across from my building. There's not as much traffic on the one-way street, so I get less dust and dirt on the car. It's in shade for a good part of the day, including the afternoon. And since people who park there tend to stay most of the day, I don't see many cars forcing themselves into a tiny space ahead of or behind my car, thus fewer (or maybe no) bumper nicks.

Is that a reserved parking spot? I usually park in the same general location at work in the parking structure where the spaces are bigger. Now that I think about it there are larger spaces near the elevator but those get taken early so I would have to park on a higher level.

No, if I wanted to park on campus I'd have to pay like $600 a year, and then it would only give me the right to look for a space -- like a hunting license. No guarantee you'd bag anything. I get to work fairly early, which makes my commute halfway pleasant, and park about two blocks away. If it's raining, or I'm pretty sure it will later, I'll take a chance and park on the main avenue. But my two previous cars often got their front and rear bumpers nicked when I parked there.

The only garage on my campus is about 3/4 of a mile away. The idea of walking to my office from it, and back to the garage on a blazing hot afternoon, is not something I'd consider.

Reminds me of a comment from my wife one time. I drove Porsches for many years (5 total) and onne day I, apparently, carried finding the right parking spot to an extreme. As we walked away from the car............she said, I don't want to say that this is pretty far from anything but I was thinking about calling a cab. I am pleased to report this same behavior has continued with my BMW ownership.

Thanks for sharing. It's safe to say your experience is echoed perhaps by everyone when a perfect parking spot presents itself. Great car by the way!

Lol!

Jackasses who double park are asking for scratches on their car. Heck, if these folks are so concerned, just park farther away. No need to take two spots.
