Oil change time

Do you guys go by the cars oil change countdown or your own time change interval. On all previous cars I would use synthetic and change at 7500 miles. I have set a couple of samples to black stone labs and they have said I can go up to 9k miles. On my 435i the oil was changed when I bought it. I’m not due for 4 months or 6k miles. I am planning on doing it in a month or so. I will be using bmw oil and man filter from Fox euro. Wondering how long I should run it. 7500 or 10k?

I'm in the same boat, I drive a 435 and bought it in December. I believe before I bought it, dealer added some additives as the car sat on their lot for 5 months. But they reset my oil interval in December. It says I can go 16000km or once a year before I'm due. I don't drive much approx. 10/13k a year... I figured screw their interval count and do a oil change once every 6 months. I'll be using liqui moly 5/30 and man filter for my own piece of mind.... so maybe 6000k intervals due to my low mileage per year.

Since I still got 4.5 years payments and warranty is at its end by May 29th...

Gonna keep that puppy smooth

I don’t have to flip a coin. I change it when the car tells me to.

The wife hasn’t got a clue on cars. She also has never driven my car.

I change 2 times per year - spring and fall. I do not like doing oil changes when it is hot or freezing cold. Mileage - whatever it is between those 2 points.

I do mine every 5K. Over kill? Maybe, but being anal about my engines oil and protection and after my own thread searching I found this to be where a lot of other members change theirs. Especially if you're heavily modded and like to drive it to it's potential often.

I changed mine at 7,500, and had anxiety about it being too long. A Blackstone report showed that there was plenty of TBN left. I "could" go to 10k, but 7,500 seems like a happy medium.

Not sure how much you drive, but might be worth pushing it out a little simply to save time and for convenience without adding risk to your engine.
