335d F31 front pad replacement
Hi guys,
My car went in for it's final service pack included service at 36k miles and has now done just over 40k. Just got back from a 3 day driving trip to Scotland where it's fair to say it was driven hard! The iDrive said the front pads would need doing in 3600 miles and I should have covered that by now. No warning lights yet from the pad sensors but they have started squealing at slow speed. Just phoned a local indy that I've never used before and he's asked if I'm sure the discs won't need doing too - said I'd not checked. I'd be surprised though if the discs need doing at 40k?! If they do I'd be wanting the M Perf ones on I think. Thinking of just doing the pads myself, I've done them on all my previous cars. Do you think I'll be ok sticking new pads on 40k OEM discs? Will I need anything else bar the pads? new brackets to hold the pads/new wear sensors or pins etc? Cheers! |

It’s normally 2 sets of pads to a set of discs so you should be fine on the discs.

I have this set, think it's the smallest one I use, one of them works perfectly anyway:

I want to do the pads tomorrow ideally so need something nearby... Are stealers likely to stock OEM pads or would it be an order in item? |

FYI from the manual "Retaining pins and expanding spring: for vehicles older than 48 months it is recommended to replace the retaining spring!" The springs and pins are inexpensive so worth considering Also you should be able to reuse the sensor if you remove it carefully but again these aren't that expensive |

I'm assuming these Brembo pads should be pretty good given the calipers are Brembo's?
Brembo Brake Pad (Front)Product Code: 10111103A I've heard EBC Yellowstuff are good but need to get something for tomorrow. |

Thanks - just spoke to parts dept at local Stealer. They have sensors in stock and have said I should replace them or the car will still think the pads are low!?

So annoyed! What a waste of time Euro Car Parts were - started the job, one of the wheels so rusted on (right pain to get off) then the pins were fiddly to get out. Sorted all that in a lot longer than planned and then open the box of pads and they are the wrong f***ing ones! They are not the m sport version (even though the website states they are in the fitment details section).
I now have to hope they give me a refund and that I can swap them! Argh!!!! |
