BM3 vs JB4
Would love to understand the difference between Berger Tuning's JB4 setup for M2C S55 versus the Bootmod3. I understand BM3 had 3 different setups: CS, CS+ and sage 1. Would like to know differences and pro/con.
Appreciate the info! |

you can't flash your car post the April 19 software update. At least BM3 can't.

Not true, piggyback you can change your map on the fly. JB4 can also do other things like make your halos brighter, control your exhaust flap etc. Not sure if BM3 can do that.

Making your Halos brighter can be done with coding, ie bimmercode app.

For people that have in the past used both piggyback and flash tune, how big is the difference?
How unnatural and rough is the piggyback really? If a piggyback gives you something like 70% of a proper flash tune experience, I'd still be interested |

70% is about accurate, it's that extra 30% that makes a flash feel like the car came that way from the factory, which is natural and perfect.

A decade ago, when piggy backs ruled there were epic battles between Terry & Shiv. The tuning scene was on fire with huge updates coming sometimes several within a week. I miss that competition and wish we had something similar going on now. My m2c fell victim to BMWs lockout software. The piggyback tune is still alive. Maybe not thriving but alive. I for one am glad.
No question a flash has advantages. But in my situation a piggy may be the best bet. I remember how excited I was to add a new feature from Proceed or JB3 back then. I do remember that huge swell of torque. I don’t remember thinking that the fueling wasn’t good. Jerky or uneven in the way the n54 made power. I loved it. I’m glad if the itch remains I have a option. |

JB4 must have come a long way I assume?
That's all I've put on the car since I don't want to flash the car, but this jerkiness everyone seems to state is something I do not deal with? They have had certain features for sometime that the flash tuners most recently made available. That power reduction in the first 3 gears...yea that's been available for a long time, really helps get the car off the line. My N55 struggled, the new tune strategy for the s55 should be that much easier to get going. It wouldn't hurt to try and see how you like it, Mike did say they offer a 14 day money back guarantee |

In Europe, similair to dinan there is the RaceChip piggyback that offers a 10k engine warranty
I dunno, if it's really 70% of a flash tune it might just be enough to scratch that itch You also get an app on your phone to control it. With sporadic use your OEM warranty should be pretty safe. Then again, I think the warranty hysteria is a bit overblown. Crank Hub issue is common in cars that see the track. If you don't track your car and stay conservative with a OEM ZCP tune I think you're pretty safe. Maybe get used to the ZCP and get the M2CS OEM tune when it comes. |

I bought what was believed to be a first rate tune. After a dealer visit, that tune doesn’t work anymore. In my situation at least, saving $$ had/has nothing to do with it. It’s simply the platform that will work.

The tuners are working on it. You may get your tune back before long.

I had JB4 on my M4 (which was my only option as i did it before BM3 was available). It worked great and i will go that route again on my M2C if the BM3 ends up not being able to work.
