Side Vents

How do you remove the side vents? I'm looking to change to black ones.

Can the existing ones be painted? Does the front part detach from the rear to make painting easier?

I saw that IND do pre-painted ones but I'm in the UK and delivery from the US is crazy expensive!

Do you mean the wing vents or the front bumper vents?

They just pop off with a plastic pry tool.

No need to buy black ones from IND, M Sports have gloss black from factory so you can buy them direct from BMW.

They seem to come unpainted though. Does the whole thing pry off or just the front part?

Took the metal ones out to polish them. Not sure they are back in right now?

Maybe the clips are only one time use. It's best not to remove pieces of trim like this unless absolutely necessary.

My BMW dealer can't find these in black and says he can't order them. I provided the part number and told him I've seen them on the sport package. Still nothing. Any idea how much they cost (USD)?

Thanks. I'll keep looking for what's available on my side of the pond. But it looks like IND is the cheapest option so far

Can anyone give details about how to remove these? I saw the newtis article, which says they are one-time only, but clearly they can be reuse. It's not very clear to my, which way to push the prying tool to release the trim, without damaging the clips. I want to try to use plastidip to get them black. I now there are cheap one on ebay, but they are stick ones - not sure I like the idea (thickness, longevity).

There are clips on both sides, once you pop all the clips you need to pull in a certain direction. A quick search into Youtube will show you a video how to remove them.

Mines did take a good bit of pulling to get off though as they were a little reluctant to come off when i was wrapping them, but nothing broke which was a bonus lol
