Connected Drive App
My car has never updated its status in the Connected Drive app.
I called the hotline and they said everything was fine on my end, but we still removed and added the car just to be sure. My dealer reactivated the car on his end to see if that would help. My telematics module works - the in-car apps update fine (e.g. news and weather). I have updated all apps from the iDrive menu. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my phone. I have accepted all terms and conditions in the iDrive menu. Any other ideas? |

Mine also is not working properly.... status only updated once in a while... location not updated etc.
I have no real use for it anyway so I completely ignore its existence and enjoy driving the car!

BMW Connected Drive has been having server issues for several months now. My remote functions stopped working by in March and they still haven't fixed it. Traffic services, weather etc. are still all working fine. This may or may not be part of this same issue.

I had this problem when mine was new. To fix it I had to go into the connected drive apps screen, press the options button then select refresh services (or something along those lines). The bmw genius told me the sim had gone dead because the car sat for a while between build and delivery. But following this process reactivated it

Check settings under "Data Privacy" I forget which, but there's something you have to check to allow the data to be accessed remotely.

My Connected Drive app on iPhone has had issues for about 3 weeks now - shows status & location of car from 3 weeks ago. And instead of a picture of the Z4 it shows a car under a blanket.
I can still send destinations to it, so not sure what’s up. I thought I would spend some time removing car and re-adding it or look at the Connected account online on the web site to see if there is something I needed to do. I accepted all privacy requests/statements. Similar complaints in a German forum - for some it works just fine, for others it doesn’t. Mine worked fine for about 1 month. I've tried every suggestion from BMW and from this forum (thanks for those who gave ideas) and still nothing. Disappointing but maybe BMW will sort it out on the server-side at some point.

Whether by some combination of things I did (doubtful), BMW fixing their servers (lol), or sheer luck (likely) - my app decided to start working this morning.
No idea if that will continue. |

This is painful, as, when it does, your phone is not connected at all and you have to go back to connect it to BMW iDrive before it is useful. I hope this will be fixed before the year trial period is up...

One thing I've learned, is if you've tried to do something and it failed, like autostart, or downloading images, it's stays queued, and won't let you send another request even weeks later. Though it won't tell you. Can see it if you look in History. To clear it, you have to sigh out on the app, and sign back in. That has fixed issues a few times.
