I read somewhere you can opt out of the $80/month bullshit and just pay $300 up front instead. True? Anyone done it?

Yeah it is listed in the ConnectedDrive store.
It will allow you to purchase when your 1-year trial is close to end.

I certainly wouldn't be buying carplay right now unit BMW fixes all the glitches in the new M340. This forum is full of complaints about it.

If you're leasing you will come out ahead on a 3 year lease if you pay 80/year.
