Video: First impressions of the Z4M40i
We picked up a Z4 M40i as a development car to design the air intake and possibly some aero parts for this and the upcoming Toyota Supra.
Here are my initial impressions of the car. I really didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly suprised at how good it is for a non M car. |

Excellent vid, thanks for posting
PS the Z4 really looks the business in black. Is that the Black Pack option on that model you have there?

Almost every car I've seen at the dealers has MSport plus pack which gives a similar effect on the 20i and 30i but the wheels are a black/silver bi colour design. Either option makes the car look much much better IMO. The silver grills are a bit meh.

Saw a 20i in San Francisco red in my local showroom on Sunday with M Sport Plus trim. Really very nice in the metal. Much better than in pics. Was chatting to my "account manager" who's a petrol head and he says the 30i is the best to drive. Just over 100kg lighter than the M40i upfront. Better handling overall and better steering feedback.

Don't get me wrong, enter with 'low' performance expectations, but for me it was actually fun to have to wring it out to much higher revs to see the performance come. Performance which for me was absolutely more than adequate for daily. + As everyone knows and you say, there is quite a weight difference in the 2L favour. I highly recommend. Despite being initially sceptical, it has quite quicken grown to be my favourite current BMW as I cns finally itch the roadster bug without needing it be just a weekend car.

That's a great review thanks. I'm even more excited to get mine now and I must admit I didn't realise that these come with electronically controlled LSD which alot of reviews fail to mention. No wonder I enjoyed the test drive so much!

I agree that does look great especially with the black metallic paint with that option. |
