Huh. Would've bet on the Porsche from a dig (even with that bog) due to the weight distribution, but absolutely thought the M3 would eventually pull on the Porsche from a roll and get by - especially up nearing 155 mph.

The C2S and E93 are just about dead even, with the C2S walking on the E93 VERY slowly.

Considering the weight differences between the two I think the stock M3 M-DCT will edge the 997C2S with PDK, ever so slightly. Either way it will be the kind of race that could be won on the flip of a coin.

That guy in the Porsche is shifting really fast. You can just see barely any jerk in the Porsche and the jerk you do see is so short in duration. Nice driving. If the guy couldn't shift you would see it pretty clearly as relative motion between the two.

very nice. pretty much a driver's race (or MDCT vs. Tiptronic)

but too bad the new 385hp S versions are out that will probably smoke the E93

I wouldn't call it smoked. Nothing beats power to weight though. 400kg of difference here. 400. Can you guess how it would be if the M3 M-DCT had a soft top?

Instead of a 400kgs difference it would more like 200kgs. So it that case the roles would have been reversed with the M3 commanding that lead.

That M3 weighs MORE than the current M5, and much of that weight handicap is removed by having the rolling start.

Considering that drag racing isn't Porsche's strong suit, the result isn't that bad. As someone already posted, the overall performance as measured by the 'ring was a significant margin.

The convertible is the best looking M3 though, IMO.
