That guy in the Porsche is shifting really fast. You can just see barely any jerk in the Porsche and the jerk you do see is so short in duration. Nice driving. If the guy couldn't shift you would see it pretty clearly as relative motion between the two.

Instead of a 400kgs difference it would more like 200kgs. So it that case the roles would have been reversed with the M3 commanding that lead.

That M3 weighs MORE than the current M5, and much of that weight handicap is removed by having the rolling start.
Considering that drag racing isn't Porsche's strong suit, the result isn't that bad. As someone already posted, the overall performance as measured by the 'ring was a significant margin. The convertible is the best looking M3 though, IMO. |
