Vanos failure - Fuel pressure/Power loss all together
Greetings, any help would be much appreciated. The shop I took it to tried to tell me I needed a water pump.
I went into limp mode while passing on the highway the other day, it's happened recently before, I assumed vanos failure. Code read p0015. Upon taking it to a shop they diagnosed it was definitely the solenoids. When I restarted the car this time after having the code read, I had a significant throttle/power loss in lower RPMs. I was terrified I had ruined Cam timing somehow, so I took it to the shop. The car has been jumped a ton of times as it was getting body work done to it, the Water Pump code they found was a charge off code of some kind, it hasn't come back and I have had the pump tested elsewhere via ODB and car running. 2 things. The other shop drove it with ODB attached, noticed a fuel pressure plausibility code. Yesterday coming out of first in a parking spot, I thought I smelled gas. Then again later that night, coming out of a stop sign, thought I smelled gas. So I am thinking to check the fuel pressure regulator pump. I was also going to replace HPFP. Does anyone have any advice? Could I have ruined VANOS gearset? Would VANOS gearset cause fuel pressure plausibility problem? Would VANOS Failure cause fuel pressure system damage? Please man, I am losing it over here. Before I spend money, I just need some advice. Charlotte BMW shops have failed me. Last edited by newsimplegroup; 08-03-2019 at 07:59 AM.. |

It sat for a year, I drove it straight to NC from Philadelphia after. Replaced oil, ran seafoam through it before the trip/during trip. Had to fill coolant.
The loss of power is alarming to me. It did recognize a misfire in coil 1 a while back, but that went away. |

But off the top of your head, any thoughts as to what would cause significant power loss, possible fuel pressure loss, and slight smell of gas some times?
