How much would fixing this dent cost?

I'm looking to buy this E92, the price would be reasonable if not for this dent. Is it minor enough to haggle the price down and take care of it myself or should I move on?

If the paint has been broken, I'd pass. If it hasn't and the car is mint otherwise and you love everything about it, I'd try to haggle $500 off. It should cost you less than that to fix, but you have to go through the hassle of getting it done.

I'm not sure how rare these are where you live, so the answer of whether it's worth buying in spite of the dent really depends...

Well this one is like a 7 hour drive from where I live that's why I'm hesitant. There is another one less than a couple of hour drive from me with perfect paint but a much lower trim.

It's going to be EXPENSIVE. You won't PDR that one. You can go about it several ways, from least expensive to most expensive (also the worst option to the best), goes as follows.

1) PDR, assuming it hasn't broken the paint and it can be "fixed" without breaking it, it will still be far from perfect. It's still going to be expensive in terms of PDR because of the size and location (both contribute to how long it will take.

2) get it as good as possible, then body filler and paint. A good shop won't use a ton but I hate the idea of filler because the potential for cracking is always there.

3) Cut out the spot and replace it, then paint.

You are looking at a bare minimum of $500 for paint alone. It will add up quicker than you could imagine.

I'd first take it to a PDR shop and see what they say. I had the rear quarter panel on my car repaired by a top notch PDR guy and the damage was similar to yours.
There is a lot of stretching of the metal to expect perfection from PDR

Sorry -- looks like I was wayyy off on what that would cost to get fixed. Definitely sounds not worth it!

Best of luck in finding another!

I deleted my post because I misread the OPs question. I thought he was talking about his personal car and not a prospective purchase 7 hours away. If it was his car, I still would suggest a review of the damage by a PDR shop. My car had a severe sheet metal bend similar to the dent on the prospective car the OP is looking at, which was repaired by a PDR technician. I made a post about it in May/June 2016 that show the before and after pictures. I think it's possible to get great results from PDR for a dent of that magnitude based off my experience with my car. But the guy who did the work on my car is one of the PDR industries leading technicians.

Being it's a purchase under consideration, I'd not consider it. The seller is a dumbass for selling the car in that condition and not expecting to get anything but low-ball offers.

If you can talk the seller into taking at least a grand off and the rest of the car is mint and comes with service records, go for it.

If not, pass.

I have a dent very similar to that in my passenger quarter panel. I plan on taking it out myself using a stud welder from Harbor Freight. I already have the paint to blend it all in afterwords, all in all it wouldn't cost much to do it yourself

At least 1000 to get ir fix

They ll have to pull out the metal by making small holes, not sure what the process is called . They will get it as straight as possible and then use bodyfiller
And paint

The problem is a good bodyshop will want to match the new paint with the door (specifically), rear bumper and trunk. They ll have to blend on every adjacent panel. This is where i see the cost increasing.
1000-1500 ish

Dont be surprised if they quote higher. This is also depending on the cost around ur area

It's not the 1960's anymore. PDR techniques are really amazing.
