2009 E92 335xi Transmission rumble/hesitation
2009 335xi automatic with 76k miles. BMS tune, charge pipe and intake mods installed. Transmission is original, with original fluid.
Transmission is giving a slight hesitation/rumble when just starting out in 1st gear. Shifts fine otherwise. Took it to local imports shop and mechanic says he doesn't know exactly what is wrong, but that car will likely need new transmission soon. He says the fluid looks brown, and that is an indication that things are failing inside. He doesn't recommend doing a service, changing fluid, filters, etc, just that we start thinking about selling the car as it will require a new tranny in the next 10,000 miles. What do you all think? |

what is his reasoning behind brown color = transmission going out soon?
unless there are metal pieces, i don't get why the discoloration hints at a mechanical failure. |
