Something leaking under left rear wheel
Parked my car (2008 E93) and came back after 2 hours and found this. It's been happening for several months. Any idea what it could be? Thanks!

smell it.
blot it with a napkin so you can determine color. feel it's lubricity between your fingers. ways to determine what your junk is leaking. does the time it's been happening correspond to your AC usage? could just be condensate leaking and running down the underbody because the line is off or plugged. |

How well is your top operating? I initially wanted to say rain channel but I believe that drains behind the tire. That appears to be a pretty high viscosity fluid. Have you checked your hydraulic fluid reservoir for your top? In the event that you don't know, it's in the trunk, under the carpet behind the rear seat. I'd give that a look for sure.

if you can't tel the difference between ATF, gear oil, motor oil and power steering/hydraulic fluid by smell, I guess you can't smell.
they all smell very differently. I guess using your five senses to determine what surrounds you is dumb. |

Sometimes.....even if I know what it is, I still stick my fingers in it and smell it.
Just because something is the same, doesn't mean that it's going to smell the same as it did last time. |

You guys just smell? I'll normally do a smell, quick lick, then another smell for good measure. That way you can really get a strong flavor profile to determine.

Definitely a blinker fluid leak.
Would suggest re-routing hardtop drains into taillight to prevent running it dry in the future.

I tend to only make posts of substance. Whether it's a jovial comment directed at someone or a topic, or genuinely trying to help someone (whether it be car related or not).
My posts seem to draw attention to that little appreciate button somehow. |
