5k mile 335xi swap into e91

I need some advice. I purchased a 2006 335xi with only 4,783 miles to be exact. The car is a 6 speed manual but unfortunately I am not able to register due to title issues. So my plan is to swap engine, transmission, suspension, interior, pretty much everything into a 2007 black on black 6 speed manual e91 i picked up last week.

I have been doing research and it looks and sounds like its a pretty straight forward swap. My main concern is the wiring and coding as i have no experience with bmw coding and just basic knowledge with wiring. if any one has done this before or knows a good thread PLEASE help me out! lol

Now for the story behind the e90. I am a landscaper and began working for a very nice older lady. I noticed she had a bmw sitting with Germany plates. After a couple of months working for her i finally asked about the car as i noticed it had not been moved. She told me it was her son's car and that he had past oversees while on duty due to medical issues and the car was shipped over and it had just been sitting there for some years now. I ofcourse asked if she will sell it and she kindly said no. So fast foward 5 years the car was still sitting in the same place it had sat since being brought from Germany in 2007, and unfortunetley her health was a concern for her daughter and they decided to sell the house as she will go live with her daughter. I then ask the daughter's husband what they will do with the car and he quickly offered it for sale. He told me the car hasnt been turned on in over 10 years and he thinks it has about 20k. Also told me the paper work was never transfored and that all the paper work is in German with a title of ownership. I made a offer on it and they accpeted it saying they will aid with the tranfers to get the NJ title. I picked up the car changed the fluids made sure the engine wasnt seized up. I hooked up the a new battery and to my surprise the car was shy of 5k miles and turn on right away. The car does have abs light on, 4x4 light on and the back window regulators seized up. I got all the paper work ready and sent it to them hoping to have the car registered asap. It has been over a year and I have not got a response from them in over 3 months. So my plans for the car have changed.

I have always wanted a wagon and started doing some research into the e91 and quickly became obsessed with a n54 e91. I search for about two months i was looking for a white 6 speed e91 with either black or brown interior. After months of looking i came across a black on black with 6 speed manual with a fender bender and clean title. Even though it wasnt a white one i quickly jumped on this one.

It's been done. Search the forums and you should be able to find some threads. Sounds like a worth while project, and I'd probably be doing the same thing if I was in your shoes.

Yeah i have seen a couple threads, just cant find one that explains the wiring. will keep searching. Will probably document the process on this post.

Its hard to disassemble the e90 being the state that it is in.

I hear ya, it's a shame it can't be registered. You're not likely to find a how to guide on the wiring for the swap. It's something you'll need to find wiring diagrams for both cars and figure it out. Use similar threads as guides into what you need to look into and swap over.

I would document the E90 as much as possible. Make a video of the engine starting/running/driving and showing the mileage with a time stamp for resale. Sell as many of the unneeded parts as possible to recoup funds invested.

Finally getting ball rolling in swap

Got the n52 engine, tranny, subframe, and front suspension out. easier than expected. Going to start tearing apart e90 now that I have the practice with the n52.
