JB4 with Bluetooth

Is there anyone who is running a JB4 right now on a M550 that could help me out?

I was wondering what it says in the JB4 mobile app for the firmware version and engine type?

Any information at all would be really helpful.

I have a 2019 M550 and this is what my JB4 app states

Not sure if you got your answer but you have a G series

F series is a 3 series and 4 series.

However post in the jb4 forum for exact defaults..which are very important

I have had a jb4 now for a few years on my 440. (M550 on order )

That was the reason why I originally put this post up. I knew that my car is a G series and BMS carries multiple F-series and a G-series JB4. I wanted to make sure they sent the right one.

They finally got back to me via email. It's the correct JB4. The engine type can be changed.

Thanks for your response!

Thanks

Love to see your log !

Post it up - I’m fairly good at reading them for the b58 motor and debugging issues

wondering what it looks like for the 550

How’s it feel?

Had it for a while now but never did any log.

Did some nice pulls before and after, the car is a night and day difference. Puts a big grin on your face lol.

I got the Bluetooth kit now, so I'll def do some logs and send it to you!

Look forward...

In 3rd gear, coast to 3k RPM start the log, then floor it... keep it in 3rd up to before redline (or let it shift).

I will let you know if I see anything of concern.

If you want - do a map 0 also - but you will need to do 3 - 4 runs before it adapts every time you change maps.

Sounds like a plan!

Currently the JB4 is uninstalled as I had to take my car in for a service at the dealership.

I'm out of town for another week, should have it back in as soon as I get back.

When you uninstall and take in for service, are there any digital finger prints that the dealer can pick up on that could be a tell that you are using the car with a tune?

I am curious as well if there's anything the dealer can notice about if you had a tune installed or not?

Yes they can - it alters boost by feeding fake signals that fools the ecu into thinking it’s lower than programmed target under load - the ecu responds by raising boost in turn actually being higher - all done in a controlled manner and monitored if jb4 is used.

All these metrics boost timing fuel etc is recorded by the ecu...it’s deep within the service metrics of the car so they don’t see this u less they look for it - nonetheless it’s there - service isn’t looking thus they don’t care.

Also some times you will throw a code if it’s too aggressive or if like flashing goes bad - even though you can clear the code, it’s still there behind the scenes recorded - I just updated and through a code none in 3 years but a failed update did it... no issues as it finally updated but now it’s there

Anyway - I’ve had it 3 years even leave it on for service as I am lazy and my dealership doesn’t care ... but that’s mine.

If anything goes wrong with the motor it’s always a risk and all the data is there for them to determine what the state the motor was in when it failed - though small risk as long as you don’t push it. Jb4 is generally well tested (on the 3 and 4 series not sure about this one) and never heard anyone with issues - and I have been active for many years in the community.

But such a huge difference is worth the small risk

PM me your email add. I took two logs, one from a stop up to 5th gear and the other one starting from a roll in 3rd gear.
