GTR at work

Some lucky bastard has this near where I work. I have never gotten excited about this car until I saw it in real life. It looks exquisite and absolutely mean. Although, in a hard-headed, stubborn way, I think I would still get a 997 911 over it.

Cool looking car.. I agree 911 S before that however that GTR is like a 3.6 sec car.

I also would totally get the prosche over that if money was not an issue. But since it is I would've gotten the GT-R.

Mean car nontheless and I notice you live in Ft. Lauderdale? Haven't seen any gtr's in orlando yet and i doubt i will anytime soon

I think by far, 911 has an overall better build quality over GTR. But, for outright sheer performance, and price, this thing is a winner.

Actually the wheels are the same color as the body of the car. Lots of metallic particles in the paint. I did not see any orange peel. The door handles are similar to the Aston Martins. My friend just called me that he just saw a white one about 2 miles from my work. They are spreading!!!!

What is wrong with sharing this with the most amount of enthusiasts? This is somewhat of a general forum, right? Even YOU looked at it!

Nothing, but he was suggesting that it be posted in the correct category.

It's the general M3 forum. There's a dedicated "M3 vs" and a "General cars" section. Depending on how you classify the GTR it should be posted in one of those.

Anyway thanks for the pics.

Best regards, south

Ehh.. tempting but I'd rather be driving an R8 for the money you will be spending after dealer markup.

I don't think this is really accurate because the R8 is about $150,000 at current market prices, and the GT-R is about $90,000 (40% cheaper). The GTR is the better buy, IMO. The R8 is quite a bit slower than the GT-R and their prices are not even comparable.

+1 i'd rather get a gallardo for R8 money even a used one, a beat up one... R8 fails on all levels, in fact i have no clue why they made it [so slow]

Seen it in real life, nicer than I thought all 3 times except for the wing. It's a really big car though, and it really isn't the money saving bargain people say it is.

28k for engine?
18k for transmission?
7k~ for brakes?

1k~ inspection after raceing or voided warranty?

There's more but I cannot remember. It has a supercar price tag, imagine the toll this car is going to take after a few heated laps. Eventually weight always catches up to you no matter what, those brakes won't have a big life span. I still can't argue against the transmission, I love it.

Completely agree...no class. Race-looking all the way. Definitely looks mean, but you'll get laid more in a BMW! Guys will be the only one's who know what kind of monster the GTR really is. Girls will just see the NISSAN and look past it.

I think its a helluva bargain. If I didn't have a kids, I'd be waiting for this thing to come down to MSRP and it would be mine. GT2 performance for 70k is a bargain no matter what way you slice it. That doesn't mean I would take it over a GT2, if money wasn't an object. But if you can afford a GT2, I really doubt you will be shopping the GT-R. I wouldn't be shopping a GT2 either, thats F430 territory. Nissan can't control what dealers/buyers are willing to charge/pay, so I say at MSRP its worth every dime, if performance is your thing.
