G20 roof bars options?
Anyone got experience of G20 compatible roof bars? Ideally don't want to have to fork out £170 for the official BMW ones.
I've tried the Halfords configurator but it doesn't recognise my reg or the model. May have to pop in this week and see someone. I've got a 330e but presuming it's the same fitting as any G20. Thanks! |

Ended up getting these bars, £118 inc. next day delivery and roof bar locks:
https://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rb...7B.Rf3G%2C9oFS Fitted today and they're pretty decent quality, especially for the money. The order contains: 1 x CRUZ (35) 118cm alu bars (2) Airo FIX DARK 118, no. 925-713 (BMW 3 series four door saloon (2019 onwards)) 1 x CRUZ OptiPLUS FIX fitting kit no. CR6032 (936-032) (BMW 3 series four door saloon (2019 onwards)) 1 x CRUZ set of four identical lock barrels no. 932-014 (BMW 3 series four door saloon (2019 onwards)) |

First timing fitting will take longer as you work things out, tap the existing mount points to remove paint (tap included), get the bars aligned to the car etc (they slide to accommodate different vehicles) but I reckon once you've got them set up then < 10 mins to fit. Probably took me 30 minutes but made some school boy errors like mounting the brackets the wrong way round the first time!? Doh. The instructions are actually pretty clear. I was amazed at how much Thule (and even Halfords/Exodus) charge for fitting kits, £40-60+ for a few brackets and bolts. The Cruz fitting kit was only £20 so cheap to move to another car in the future. There are a few bits where the quality perhaps reflects the price (e.g. the rubber surround could be a bit nicer) but I can't see the cost/benefit of paying £250+ for a Thule system over this, unless you like the name on the bars ;-) |

So there is a bit of noise but I've not had roof bars before so no idea if it's normal/good/bad. Some generally swooshing and a bit of high pitched whine but nothing that isn't drowned out with the stereo on.

In the Cruz kit did you get the sacrificial self tapping bolt to cut the paint out of the threads ?
if so can you measure this for me to see if its an M7 or M8 size?

Are all the brackets and things exactly the same? The Cruz fitting kit containing all brackets, bolts etc. was only £20 and seemed to be G20 specific...

but to be 100% sure we need a side by side comparison... the new G20 kit will have the new M7 bolts and the plastic 'boot' that I don't have on the F30 kit

😊
Hopefully you will not take off, but I will blame the extra boost facility rather than the lift https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lift_(force) From the aero bars |

We went to Turkey, 27-28C and blue skies every day. Not bad for this time of year!? Roof box is much needed though, only got two large suitcases and our hand luggage in the boot! |
