This car stickers at $64,300. It had "light damage to the drivers door on the dealer lot." 100% corrected repairs. Because of MB's strict policy on damaged vehicles the car was salvaged. ??? That means the warranty is void correct? This seems strange because I have never heard of this policy.

The 08 550 is quicker than the CLK55 according to reviews. A deal is one thing but do any of you guys/girls have knowledge you can share?

$37,900 625 miles. The miles have me scratching my head. From what I have found there are not a lot of these around, here anyway. So it being a demo seems out of the question.

Some nice wheels/tires/tint and this would be a good looking car to me. Looking for speed and luxury this time around. And a deal...that does not bite me in the butt.

Could be a really good deal...I would recommend you invest in getting the car computer checked from some other shop......It may take $100 or so but it's worth it....And also check the depreciation value of the car after 3 years because it's out of warranty.... ...use google search to check the depreciation value...I'm too lazy right now

You may not get bit in the butt when you buy it, but you will when you sell it. Also most banks won't finance a car with a salvage title. They only way you could make out on that deal is to drive the car SEVERAL years until it would be worth nothing anyway.

CJ Prestman is one of MANY lots that buy salvaged and wrecked cars and then sells them. There is something with the laws here that makes it really easy to sell badly damaged cars.

I always stay away from wrecked cars, you just never know whats going to happen.

I think that's pretty much the way it is with all manufacturers. Once the car has a salvage title, the warranty is dead.

That what happens at BMW. I have to deal with salvaged cars all the time at my work, and bmw doesnt warranty anything. They dont even give us the history, or vehicle description.

I have never bought a salvaged car either. My thought was why is it salvaged from a "light door repair"? Is MB really that strict? Oh well on with the search.

I just went and looked at the Cayenne GTS. Yummy but 82K? Yikes.

Im sure light damage could mean anything from a door replacment, to the entire side of the car was smashed in by a semi.

We had an 06 325 sport get hit while it was parked. We totaled it, but about 3 months later it was in our service department, all fixed up.

For that amount of money you can still get into something sport and luxury WITHOUT the questionable history.

A previous car of mine was in a severe accident, but was claimed to have only had minor cosmetic work done. I ended up finding out from previous owner that it was salvaged. Interestingly, it had a clean title on its carfax and was a breeze to sell again. I ended up losing only like $800 on it, over 1.5 years of ownership.

Another instance involved my BMW getting rear ended and even though the damage was substantial, its carfax was also clean. The quality of the repair was top notch and without me being honest about the work, no one would be able to tell anything was done.

Lesson of the day, the 'door ding' is an attempt by the current owners to let you know that there in fact was an accident to the car's door - BUT the magnitude was much greater (which is what they are not telling you). They won't feel as guilty about selling the car, since they did tell you there was some work done, and this way they don't totally kill their sale by telling you the truth.

The best advice is to get as much information as humanly possible about that car (and other cars within your price range) and THEN decide what its worth to you and if you would still like to have it.

Again..it was the "hook" listed that "It is MB's policy even with the slightest damage." I think they just felt like writing that for the hope of a sale as the guy above you wrote. Someone who doesn't care will buy it. It looks so shiny and new though.

The term "light' can be argued in court from one extreme to another.

Unless you know what specifically was repaired move on.

One thing for sure, BMW and MB auction off cars that do not meet their standards. Enough said.
