No Apple car play on new iDrive?
With a lot of changes going on with new packages and software changes I noted that there is no option for Apple car play anymore in a new car configuration. And during test drive the app specialist said that it is not available. Is it correct?

I have CarPlay on my September built car.
Just checked the uk configuration and found this under optional equipment.

True, it is there. When I thicked all packages I couldn’t find it. But I specifically asked that question to app specialist who had a test drive with me and he said “no Apple car play anymore”. I’m a bit confused right now.

You could ask the “online genius” via live chat or phone another dealer and speak to their genius to clarify.

Amazes me at how little the BMW "people" know about their own product. Whether at the dealer or via online channels. BMW Genius told me that you can't deactivate the rear climate controls (to stop the kids playing with them) but you can. |

The same thing happened to me last week. Apple CarPlay disappeared from the menu. I could change my phone from iDrive to CarPlay but it still wouldn't appear.
I am not 100% sure how I got it working again, I got my phone to forget the Bluetooth and Wifi connections and deleted my phone from the car but when reconnecting it still wouldn't show in fact when I selected CarPlay rather than iDrive the phone would disconnect and not connect to the car in any way until I switched off CarPlay and back to iDrive. Although it still wasn't working, I went into the Bluetooth connection to the car and noticed the CarPlay slider button and switched it off. Then I deleted the Bluetooth connection again and suddenly it was working again and has been fine since. I am not sure whether the CarPlay works through Bluetooth or Wifi as today I was checking the system after a software update and found that music was playing via CarPlay but neither the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi was connected to the car! All working so can’t complain. Cars three weeks old and still in its first 6 months of free CarPlay before subscription. Hope that helps. |

No, just one phone. When I had the issue last week I had two of my sons phones connected as well but deleted them at the same time as mine.
Seams a bit buggy at times, still love it though 😁 |

My CarPlay is there and works pretty well except for one small gripe......
I have 2 phones, one work and one private, both are with me through the working week and just my private one at weekends, evenings and holidays. On a work day Ill connect my works phone to the car as I need it for my hands free. As soon as I try and connect my private one to listen to music the system tells me I have to switch off the phone connection to my works phone to use CarPlay on my private one. I have my works one connected through Idrive with phone connection ticked and my private one with phone connection unticked but I still cant have my private one connected through CarPlay and just have my works phone for calls. I’m I trying to do the impossible here or am I missing something?. Any help would be appreciated. Many Thanks |

CarPlay has now decided to not work on my iDrive..... sometimes it connects automatically, others I have to prompt it to connect.
Yesterday it wouldn’t connect at all and then all of a sudden connected on its own and this morning it’s not connecting again. To believe in 12 months we’ll have to pay for this s@#t is staggering. |

Yeah, if set up my works phone for telephone priority. It just seems to have a mind of its own, “should I connect to this phone or the other?..... I know, I’ll connect to neither of them just to P my owner off”. |
