thoughts on G30 M5 style conversion on m550i
I was wondering what people's thoughts might be on an m5 style conversion on m550i. There would be no M5 badges on anything just the look. I personally think it would be ok on a tuned m550i with 600hp / the power to back up the look.

don't see anything wrong with it, especially if you are pushing serious power.

Do it,
Be careful the rear diffusers on alibaba and eBay don't fit the stock exhaust for M550.

what someone said above...ebay stuff doesn't usually fit the exhaust for the M550 otherwise some of it fits very well - I did the rear diffuser setup on my 540 and after a few different purchases, found a perfect fit.

I doubt there is much of a market for this. 328 to M3 kits are prob in higher demand. M550 to M5 I would assume is a rare find. My M550 cost me 90k not including modifications. Base is what..80k, does this kit make sense? |

Rock you M550 with the 600Hp. This kit will bring the value of your car down. IMO it doesnt look right |

Why would it degrade the value? It's not like you're putting ricer looking parts. The parts are oem or oem replica look. Replicating the m5 look I don't think should be a problem especially if you have 600hp and are not slapping m5 badges in place of M5.
I don't think it's fair that low end trims get to replicate the look of the mid level performance trim (m550i), but the mid level, more like mid high level can't replicate similar look to top trim. Another example is A5 can get S5 look, but S5 can't get RS5ish look? Mid level trim in both cases is closer to top trim than bottom trim is to mid trim. |

There are not that many m550s that are spec'd that high in territory of base m5 in which case m5 is on the table. You can spec an m550 for way less with most / all the good options. On the used market, a good spec m550 with acc is high 50s and a good spec m5 with acc is 77 to 80k. That's 20k difference. 85-90%ish of the power of m5 can be had for under $1k and the m5 look which would be deserving for another couple k. The m5 look would make sense in my opinion.

You weren't coming off as harsh. Just constructive feedback here. I would like to do it, but would want it to look good, almost oem like and good quality otherwise I won't be happy. I also thought the rear would be easier to pull off and then keep front stock but put on a nice high quality lip that integrates into the front well and flows good, yet adds an aggressive look. Then add some more bits of carbon like m5 mirror caps, side skirts, replacement fender vents in carbon. I think a different look that's just as aggressive as m5 can be had.

Do you know if the exact part for the rear diffuser kit from the M5 fits on the M550?
Just checking to see if I could get parts 13 and 19 and have it fit on the m550? Or would it require changing out the whole bumper. |

i'm suprised not many have done the m5 style bumper on an m550 considering the power. I used to see a lot of m3 style/conversions on the forums back in the day with the e90 335's.

The main problem is the exhaust, one side clears but the other side doesn't. It requires custom work, by relocating where the pipes come out. Seems like the front end should be a simple swap. But I haven't even got that far to know if it requires anything else |
