What bhp does a 335i have with and without a remap?

Re-mapping of the 335i is not that new but only been released. Think sal says it gives 50bhp. So from 305ish to 350ish maybe more.

50bhp that is a lot from messing about with some electrics, would why they aren't just set up to optimum performance from the factory?

Why is it more common for diesels to be mapped?

Because diesels are almost always turbocharged and therefore easier to get gains from mapping.

As to why the manufacturers don't do this it's because of the diversity of the market to which they are selling, the variablity of servicing and fuel worldwide. If they knew that all fuel was high quality, owners would service regularly etc they might up the output a bit.

An enthusiast owner who has his car mapped is likely to maintain it welll and perform regular lubricant changes.

It's also labour intensive to map cars individually. Think of it like blueprinting an engine in an MG - factory bits but they're not all built that way because it's not economical.

Baris - dont tell me your making excuses already!!!?? The next thing you'll be telling us your one-piece RED race suit was too tight and restricted your breathing control through the apex of the corners!!!
Porscha - ive also got a full Miltek system, so im hoping that the power gains maybe a little more than 50 bhp on my car - who knows?? Imran sounded like a really nice guy and very informed so im hoping he will look after me and the car and get the best out of it but as safely as possible. We will do dyno runs before and after - so that will be interesting. Obviously the bhp gains are not important, its the torque curve that im most interested in increasing and Imran spoke in the region of +100lbs over standard!!
Paul - little old me is no match for the formidable DXB!!!

I bet your car sounds lovely

Please post tomorrow to see what happened, I'm sure we would all like to know

50bhp surely is a good amount in itself, I'd be well pleased with that!

You ARE a match for the dxb, I'm not going to show him that manual rules so someone please show him that petrol rules (Carlos only joking I know the dxb is the best )

Ian - to be really honest im not sure whether the extra 50bhp will feel all that more different anyway and i doubt it will be night and day - but we shall see. Besides, even with all his huge mods, James couldnt shake ol' Stevo off up Box Hill with my stock set up so there may be hope for me yet against the all mighty DXB when remapped!!!
