530e - Trailer Hitch - Experience and CoC
Hi all,
I'm thinking buying a 2d hand 530e and wanted to know if it is possible to install a trailer hitch (to use a bike rack). Is the certificate of conformity allows? (I think point 16 or 17 on the CoC a weight in kg must be indicated)? Has anyone experience with trailer hitch on 530e? I see that equipments are available https://www.ahk-preisbrecher.de/Anha...al::76297.html https://www.autodoc.be/westfalia/12806957 Also I saw that as from 11/2019 530e can be factory equipped with a trailer hitch (option 3AC) Last edited by UtilisaE9; 11-18-2019 at 11:15 PM.. |

Saw this the other day. One person got their 530e installed and posted a photo review on the page too. Looks quite neat and tidy.

I have a stealth hitch on my X4. They are great if you don't need to use often. Completely invisible when not in use but takes more effort than a standard hitch.

At least in Denmark a trailer hitch on 530e is not approved, hence you can install the hitch but you are not allowed to pull a trailer or caravan. If you only use the trailer hitch for a bike cycle rack or luggage rack, no approval is needed so for this purpose it should be OK.
It is my understanding that BMW will not file for approval of a trailer hitch on 530e due to the potential damage to the electrical drive train if you pull a heavy trailer.
