06 330i won't rev

Hi all- did some searching but not finding. 06 330i bought in May and all was good, drove home from NY to CT no issues. Sitting in the garage ever since, minor front end accident need to take care of. Backed out of the garage, up driveway, no power, won't rev above 2k. When in garage I pulled airbox and noticed I forgot to plug sensor lead back in. Plugged back in but still no rev above 2k. Does it need to 'learn'? Is this limp home mode somehow? I'm totally new to BMW, DIY car guy good at changing parts but light on diagnosing. ANy help would be great. Thanks

The plug under right after the airbox is the MAF. If left unplug, you will have a check engine light but it will run open loop. Why did you unplug it or was it the previous owners?

Open loop will not restrict your RPMs to below 2k. Start by having your error codes read. Not doing that is like shooting in the dark.

You need to scan it with a proper deep scanner that reads shadow codes and such. Not some autozone Chinese gimmick. That's the first step.
