E92 Muffler delete drone, how ????
I just did a muffler delete on e92 n52 330i. It drones crazy at ~3k rpm, above or below not too bad. Everything else is stock, this shouldn't drone in my book.
Is there anything I can do, otherwise I end up putting stock muffler back on. Last edited by deropke; 11-22-2019 at 07:44 AM.. |

I mean.... you cut off the biggest silencing aspect of the entire exhaust I don't know what you were expecting. There's nothing you can do to it right now. But if you want some noise over stock, I suggest you just go with an aftermarket muffler. It'll give you some noise and should eliminate all drone

Why would you not expect it to drone? lol
E92 doesnt have a resonator either so, you now have effectively straight pipe aside from catalytic converters.

It does have resonator, and most people on youtube do muffler and resonator together, most of them claiming there is no drone.

As for the muffler delete/drone issue, this is one of the reasons people install resonators in place of the mufflers. Usually Vibrant. |

Why? Just because you don't want it too? There is a like of R&D that goes into an exhaust system in order to keep it from droning....you can't just change the design, and expect it not to drone...it doesn't work that way. You just changed how the pressure/sound waves run through the system.....

Sometimes something as simple as moving the resonator a few inches forward or backwards of where it's welded in can create or get rid of drone. It's all about getting rid of the standing pressure and sound waves. It's pretty complicated....that's why good exhaust systems are really expensive.... because they figured out how to make them sound good without the drone. |

I know how you feel.
My car came with muffler delete and it droned like crazy. Did my research up, and there were some contradicting opinions where some people feel no drones while others do. I concluded that THERE IS DRONING with muffle delete yet some people just don't feel/hear it just because I had drones. What I ended up was putting PE mod mufflers on and am satisfied for good. Some people states that putting resonators in somewhere in the piping would help droning. |

But... But... People on YouTube said it!!!
Anyway... Either put a muffler (stock or not) back on and be done with it.

putting stock is always an option, but perhaps something else could be done, like my other friend thinks changing tips from dual to single would help it.
