Just installed a JB3 PnP. Two things I learned...
My brother got his JB3 today and we did the install. Learned two things...
1. Those little pin bastages are sharp. When you are messing with the wire looms and shoving them around, the pins can go into your hand. And when they do...you bleed...a lot...for a while. I may get the trophy for the first to bleed installing a JB3! (please do not ask for pics, I have stopped bleeding now) 2. Do not try to jam the small connector's slider back into the harness from the wrong side. It LOOKS like it could go in from either end, and it's easy to lose track of what end is right and which is left...but after jamming it and cursing at it for a few minutes...I put it in the other side...in it went. My brother's car started right up. No issues. Took me about 50 minutes and I was being ultra careful and reading the instructions a bunch of times in between each step. Car feels super smooth. I honestly hope it picks up a bunch more power...I'll reserve a full review til I get to drive my brother's car around more, but, it doesn't feel like I expected it to quite yet, power-wise. Drove for about 10 minuntes/5 miles so, I guess it takes longer than that. |

I was a bleeder on the PnP a few days ago. I pushed the large dme connector down without the slider and had to pull it back up. Damn near had to give it all my might and when I got it to come up I looked at my finger and saw a big gash oozing

Also, be careful not to let the sharp pins on the end of the wires cut through the insulation on some other wires. The pin-out version is a delicate job. I'll be changing to the PnP harness later.

EZATNOVA, tell us what we all and our brothers want to know! Did it make the 29.2 lag go away on your bro's car? My bro's car is lagging like hell.

Few updates.
- I actually am still technically bleeding. The pin sliced my right between the thumb and index finger, so every time I grab something, it splits open again. - The re-learning of the car is going well. It's picked up a good bit of power from what I can tell, in a few hundred miles of driving. The power is definitely most prevelant up top. - Which brings us the the next point. I'm not sure if it's 29.2 based, or JB3 based, or probably BOTH, but, the car feels soft down low, especially below 2500 rpm. As we discussed, JB3 doesn't really attempt to negate 29.2's open wastegates and cruise/idle, so I essentially expected this. Once the gates have a chance to close though, the JB3 makes it scoot. - I can't say enough how smooth this tune is. ZERO jerking or surging, just smooth power build. - FWIW, I drive from PA to CT and averaged 30.9 mpg on the way up, and 29.0 on the way home, driving a little more spirited. Safe to say, JB3 doesn't negatively affect milage in normal driving. |
