How to override Airbag warning when airbag is removed?
Planning on putting bucket seats into the Z4.
I'd like to know if anyone knows how to disable the airbag warning lights for when the seats are gone. I guess this is also useful for people who switch to after market steering wheels. Thanks!

I don't believe the airbag lights will trigger if you remove the seats. The only airbag-related piece in the seats is the pressure sensor in the passenger seat. That mat can be transferred to your new seat (ideally) or just discarded, in which case the system defaults to always-on for that airbag (if you disconnect the sensor mat). This we learned recently with the recall on those mats.
So, just saying, I think you're in the clear for seats alone. Perhaps PM some of the users who switched to recaros just to confirm (I'm still running stock seats). |
