To 15k service, or not to 15k service?

I'm approaching the 15k service interval, but I have some concerns about bringing my car into a dealership for service.

My concerns are A) I have JB2 installed (if I do bring it in, I would certainly remove it, it's just a pain in the butt to uninstall and reinstall) and B) progman 29.2 issues.

I'm considering bringing my car into an independent BMW shop that I have a great relationship with. I'd rather pay for the oil change/service than deal with the JB2 uninstall/reinstall and potential displeasure with throttle feel after 29.2.

My question -- are there any warranty ramifications of not bringing your car in for the 15k service to a dealership?

Thanks in advance...

I could be wrong, but don't you need to bring it in to maintain warranty? If not, just change the oil and keep records. JB probably will not be detected, but, IMHO, I would not chance it. Second thoughts on a SSTT? Oil change with Synthetic oil should not set you back no more than $85-90 done by a non BMW mechanic with full synthetic oil.

The last time I brought my car in for service was to change the brakes because they were squealing at low acceleration. I was hoping that they didn't update the Progman and they didn't.

Worst case scenario....the next time you bring the car in for a dealership, they give you a freebie oil change. If they ask why didn't you bring it in before, just play dumb and say something like it's my first BMW.

I honestly don't think there's any consequences other than having to reset the count down oil meter on the dash.

none but there is no 15k service per se. All service is condition based and your car will transmit its need for service automatically to the workshop.

if your independent shop can reset the service light, i think you should be fine. if he cannot reset the service light, then you have no choice but to take it to the dealer to do the maintenance on it to maintain the warranty.
