Keep it or sale / trade
Im debating to sale/trade my current e90 328 xi with 90 000 miles
Bought the car in 2013 with 6 000 miles on it. I ve done all the maintenance , car has been rock solid ( knock on wood). Nothing wrong with the car , I even have the car running with headers, 3 stage intake , coilovers, and other mods. I get nothing but compliments on this car, like literally people always ask me about the car But its time to get something newer , I ve been eyeing 2015+ sti , s3 ,s4 ,s5 , m235i , m240 , 435... I keep going back and forth , get a 4 door sport car and get rid of my car . Or get a 2 door sport car and keep my current car as a beater ( daily ) , winter car I m doing that right now , have a 2008 enclave as a beater , 2011 328 as weekend. It works fine . Insurance is a bit of a bit c h , but i can work it out The problem with my car is , one is modded , so its a harder sell , and two the car has been in 3 accidents, they all have been just rear bumper replacements , but i know the buyers are going to low ball me hard even though these were minor accidents. What do you think guys?? I ve been over this for the past month or so , but I keep going back and forth ... Last edited by rick100; 02-03-2020 at 10:36 AM.. |

Tough question because we're not you. I would personally be torn between two scenarios. 1) Keep the Enclave as the winter beater just in case I need to haul a bunch of stuff for whatever reason, and get a new car. Of the cars you list, I'd be most interested in the 240i because b58. Or 2) Sell the Enclave, keep the 328xi as a winter car since trade-in will be garbage and private party not great either, then get something two door and flickable as a weekend car (Cayman S?).
Of course the financially responsible thing to do would be to keep your current vehicle setup and run them both into the ground. Good luck with your decision. Last edited by srey; 02-03-2020 at 10:31 AM.. Reason: clarification |

thats the other problem . The damn enclave has 200 000 miles but it refuses to die . The thing keeps going. I told my wife first big repair the car is out . Its been a year and no repairs. I even drove to miami from toronto last month in the enclave thinking I was not going to make it back with it . But the car drove 4000 miles trip just fine
But yes the enclave goes . I also have cadillac SRX which my wife drives , so I already have SUV if the enclave goes. So real question is keep the 328xi , buy sporty 2 door car . Or get rid of 328xi , just buy an all purpose 4 door sport car. Keep in mind I drive 20 000 miles or more a year |

I would start test driving and choose what speaks to you. I know that I personally dislike the WRX, even in STI trim. I don't like the cockpit. It's fun, but my 335i is more fun. That's subjective, of course.
Again, good luck with the decision making. I've been trying to sum up the gumption to replace my winter beater with something a little more economical. I drive a 1995 Ford pickup with 230k miles on the odometer. It gets 10 mpg. I want to get a beater Audi to replace it. I'd look at Subarus, but people want way too much money for their modded ricemobiles. |

Raw or unrefined. Different perspectives.
I had my fling with various Scoobies... Done with the sea of plastics. Besides Subaru is no longer in WRC in any meaningful way, that air of the legendary 555 has died. On the flip side the 335i MSRP-ed way higher than an STi, however its resale value is half of the latter. Market has spoken. Someone that owns a Buick and a Caddy, I sure am curious why the interest for a car that's so far opposite to these brands. |

I feel like the STI has gone nowhere in a decade. Still same power, still same general cheapness. I don’t get it. It was novel 15 years ago, but now I’d never put up with its downsides.
Owned a 9-2x aero (wrx). Whole experience was meh. |

You’ve own the BMW for seven years, maintained it and still enjoy it. Why sell it and take a hit on the mods you’ve done? A 2 or 4Series would be a blast but at cost, so I would keep the 3Series.

If you’re leaning towards the 4 door have you driven an RS3? I was asking the same thing the other day, but I’ve already settled on 4 door. I drove an RS3 last week...all I can say is OMG...

At some point in the near future I'm guessing your gaskets will start to go and leak oil on your 328xi. Those can be costly repairs unless your going to do it yourself. Something to keep in mind.
I'm in a similar situation where I have 82k miles on the clock. I'm debating these three options: 1) Keep the 335xi as a winter car and get something fun for the summer and non-snowy winter days (Porsche, M2/4, S5, etc.) 2) Keep the 335xi and sell it for the rumored M245 X-Drive that comes out in a year and a half. 3) Keep the 335xi and sell it for the M440 X-Drive when it comes out later this year (assuming it's not too ugly.)
