Shooting flames
Came from a 2016 WRX (Direct injection motor). If you went catless with some bolt ons, you shot flames out the back. I went the catted route so I never got them #SadFace
With the B58 being DI and all, has anyone here spit flames with their catless setup?

From the factory, our cars come with a form of lite-antilag that engages in sport mode. When letting off the throttle, the ecu retards timing to ignite fuel/air after the piston reaches TDC and as the exhaust valves open. The explosion pressure causes the turbo to continue spooling. I don't plan on tuning my car and therefore haven't read into how aftermarket tunes like BMS or Bootmod work, but I assume that the tunes dump excessive amounts of fuel during the exhaust cycle, perhaps by increasing injector duty cycle and further retarding timing. Last note: I don't mean to be a jerk, but catalytic converters do a great job at making our cars cleaner. Removing your cat to make marginally more power and shoot flames doesn't make much sense. |

Agree that the flame shooting spectacle isn't my cup of tea. But, as far as the catless dp is concerned, it depends on what you're doing with your car. If it's a DD, I would tend to agree. If you have a track-dedicated car that sees little street use, then it's a different story. Polar bears love racecars

Yeah, sounds about right then. I have the MPE and am very surprised how much it snap, crackles and pop. I was assuming this is the case. Appreciate it man. For the record, I was just curious. Not actively trying to make it shoot flames. Work is so damn slow that I've resulted to online posting for minor conversation haha
