Boostane / torco question

How safe is this stuff in the cars? I know people run it? How much is safe? What octane mixes can you get up to? Why not just use a small e85 mix to get a little extra octane? Pros and cons? Should I upgrade spark plugs? All guidance please pros and cons

Never used it, but it will stain your plugs and possibly fuck your CAT I think.

I've run boostane in my 19 built mustang and some other cars. It works very well and is a great alternative if you cant get E85 regularly, but want a little more. It wont take you as far as E85 but it makes a big difference.

I went 10.40 10/11 psi E85.
Same weather 10.30 10/11psi 93/boostane. Car was 58lbs lighter. Everything else the same.

On my whippled musatng and 5.0 Twin turbo f150. We had the tune setup to advance timing with higher octane. I would see 4 degrees added when using boostane with 93. Now I'm new to the bmw world so I dont know how these guys do it. I would think its probably the same. But again not positive.

Don't do it, someone on this forum ran a can or two and their plugs were fouled and everything internally in the engine was orange. Get race gas or 3-4gal of E85 don't cut corners on an engine this expensive.

How are you guys filling up with a E85 mixture? I'm just trying to learn the rules for mixing E30.

Does the tank have to be empty? What's the best time to re-fuel?

Can you fill up with 93 first at one station and then go for a short drive to another to top it off with E85 for E30? Or fill up with E85 first then drive down the street to top it off with 93?

Is it best to go with a full tank of E30 or 1/2 tank of E30?

I don't know the pros and cons, however, I used both Torco and Boostane for 50K+ miles in both my ZL1 and my past BMW M5 F10 and had 0 issues. During plug changes i did see some slight coloring but that's all it was. Didn't impact performance. I know many others with the same feedback.

I also did go with 3-4 gallons of E85 with 93 octane. Saw some good results. Started with 2 and did +1 each fill up till I got to 4 and saw no issues.

I like to start from scratch whenever possible, and E85 first always.

Definitely does work well, Add a bottle of this, fill up with 30% e85, and you'll be like a crack addict jonesing for another fix Just make sure you get the unleaded kind because the leaded bottles will definitely foul your 02 sensors quickly.

Torco oranges it all out! Boostane not so much to my understanding. I currently use a mix of pump gas with boostane mix with great results.

BTW this is from an Amazon review for Boostane. You can see the rest of the plug is clean, it's in good condition looking at the gap and electrode but it was fouled due to the MMT orange coating. If your dealer replaces your plugs and sees this they will know and can cause you some trouble. Food for thought if something were to go wrong with your car even if it is not because of Boostane, they can still blame it on you.

My catalytic converters in my ZO6 looked the same. They still worked, but were coated in orange.

This makes me a believer in an E30 blend. If some platforms can run E85 without spark plug issues or catalyst issues an E30 with a proper tune should be fine.
