Regular Cruise control without braking?
I have a nice twisty road on my daily commute where I can set the cruise at 60 on my 2000 GMC full size truck (ie, not THAT twisty). When I set the cruise on my 15 M235i it slows down to ~50 through the corners. There's not a ton of info on it from the searches I've done but it seems most likely tied to Cruise With Braking (S544A in the VO), and hitting a yaw limit. I tried to change to S540A but it did not like that option (described as just Cruise Control) in Esys so no joy on that.
Anybody else get annoyed enough to change from 544? Thanks, Andy 15 M235i ex 07 530iT that also didn't slow down in the corners |

I don't believe this car comes with variable Cruze control 😂

It feels like in the middle of a corner, the cruise control turns off and lets the car coast. Then once the corner straightens out suddenly it comes back to life and accelerates to the chosen speed. Would love to turn this "feature" off as well. |

Same here. I found that my attention outside the car drops off way too much when I've got CC on. Besides, I like driving my car.

I concur with the last two posts. I have used my CC a handful of times on the highway only.
Of course on winding roads, I spend my time picking the best lines to drive, am fully engaged and end up driving in excess of the posted speed limit. CC would reduce the likelihood of me receiving a summons but would take all of the fun out of driving...I'll take my chances! A dradernh noted, I like to drive my car as well. Regarding the "dynamic braking" aspect, on the highway, it is a useful adaptation for the CC IMHO. It allows the vehicle to maintain a consistent speed, which has its advantages on long interstate treks.

This thread reminds me of my son's driving habits in his senior year of high school.
We had a very nice old Honda coupe, passed down from friends, that was the kids' car. He discovered cruise control and kept it on from home to school and back every day, a few miles, at 24 mph, one below the in-town speed limit. It drove his sisters crazy, but driving his sisters crazy was his greatest joy. I can't wait for his son to do the same to his sister, though they live in Brooklyn, so no driving to high school. |

The only cruise control I use is my right ankle. It does a great job holding a consistent speed on open roads, including going up or down hills, and it automatically switches to dynamic mode when in heavy traffic!

Yes, I agree it's easy and fun to adjust manually with pedal (and that's what I do given the CC behavior) but my 530 wagon (coil overs, 2WD, manual, etc) didn't have that annoying bug. Just trying to configure the car how I want it. Downhill braking isn't as much of a concern for me since I have a manual and get pretty good engine braking as it is. I tried to modify the VO/FA to add 540 or 541 "Cruise Control" and "Active CC" and remove 544 "CC w/ braking" but no luck. ESYS kicks out an error. I'm going to keep trying things (maybe can bump up the yaw threshold??) because I have some time these days. Andy 15 M235i 6sp 17 S1000R - no cruise needed! |

Park Slope. Parking is horrendous and garage space rental is about what it would cost to rent a decent place to live in most of the rest of the country. Even the two-year-old commutes to Manhattan daily in normal times.

Got it...makes perfect sense, thanks. Recall the area well. There is a school there on Prospect Park West around 1st Street I attended that looks like a castle...used to be Brooklyn Ethical Culture...now Poly Prep Lower School. I recall even in the 1960s that parking there was a challenge for my folks! Kids there will know how to operate a motorman's subway controls before learning to drive!
