Sky at night

Hi
Just had a little fun with my daughter - viewed the Moon and Venus right next to it through our telescope in the garden. Turns out tomorrow night will be Venus at its brightest this spring, and a little surprise - “it’s just like the moon!” said my daughter with a little yelp of joy - Venus in crescent.
Nice

It's surprising how much clearer the stars and planets are while road and air traffic are much reduced. If you stay up a bit later, or get up a bit earlier, you should also get a good view of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury at the moment.

Has anyone seen these satelites?

I've been out most nights but haven't seen them.

You're right about Venus, bright "star" visible from early evening

I'm outside sheffield and the light pollution isn't great. My holiday home however is right near a dark sky site and the stuff you can see even with the naked eye really makes it worth it.

Here's a photo I took (in Sheffield) with my DSLR mounted on a telescope. It was the first photo I'd ever taken of the sky through the telescope and I was amazed! Then I was put to shame by some of the things people have photographed - proper works of art some of them!

Have a look at https://james.darpinian.com/satellites/?special=starlink

It's quite accurate with a Street view of your location and cloud prediction.

Seen them most nights this week - but not last night as it was raining!

Thanks for that, will give it another go. Quick q:

Do you see one of these satellites at any one time or do you see numerous instances?
How fast do they travel, similar to an airliner or slower / faster?
