Radar Detector Update

Hardwired the Passport 8500 X50 to the fuse box this weekend. Driving to and from work today, noticed it was rattling like crazy. Took it down, noticed it was play between the mount and the radar detector. The mount resembles a ladder, what I did was layer thin clear packing tape on the top and bottom of the sides of the ladder, leaving the rungs open. I kept adding symetric layers to the top and bottom of the sides, until it was a firm fit into the radar detector, but still just enough clearance to slide on and off. The connection now between the mount and detector is extremely solid. Went for a drive to see how well it worked, I'd say it reduced rattling 99.5%, This car is very solid, very quiet, so I'm glad my radar detector fits better in this car now...

My car is at 1190 miles!! Took it for a spin to test out the detector, I put it into Drive Sport and opened it up on some highway ramps/getting on the highway. This car is incredibly fast, but incredibly smooth too, you really don't notice how fast you're going at all. Pickup is incredible.. Sunroof open, area 33, radar detection, an awesome cool clear night... man I'm loving the e90.
