Tv sound bars
Now I've ordered the TV need to get a new sound bar.
I'd prefer a proper surround sound setup but Mrs 225 doesn't want speakers all over the place. I'm looking at the jbl 9.1 as that has detachable rear speakers that run on battery which looks smart and is low enough to put in front of the lgoled55c9. I'm also looking at the new sonos arc which would mean a small TV stand to raise the TV but looks good and can add a sub or extra speakers later. Need to have e arc (not just arc) and have up firing drivers, plus not be too big such as the lg sly10 which is really long. Any more ideas? ta |

I have a Sony ht-st5000 In my main living room and it’s top notch.
Also have a Dali Katch One in our family room which is used as a tv soundbar but wife also uses daily as a streaming speaker for playing music from her phone which is a great bit of kit. |

If your tv is not on the wall try a Canton sound base. I use a DM100 with my B7 66 OLED. Amazing sound.
The highest scoring soundbar with the latest tech and a subwoofer in Which? is the Samsung Harman/Kardon HW-N850. The Samsung HW-Q90R has the wireless rear speakers and upfiring drivers that you are after. The JBLs all score really badly, granted they haven't tested the 9.1. EvilDrPorkChop I am leaning towards the sonos and I can it with 15% off. I'm sure it's good kit but their subs are as expensive as the bars! |

I've got thes Sony HT ZF9 these are wireless surround speakers and a sub. With the Sony soundbar this give wireless 5.1 and Dolby Atmos. then 5.1 is great and the Atmos is ok could be better but you'd need to start mounting more speakers higher to really get it perfect.
I think it's really good im very happy with it all. |

Atmos at home is a bit of a gimmick if you ask me. I have a proper setup with upward firing speakers and it adds a little but not much. As mentioned you really need ceiling speakers for it to work best.

Sonos have just released the Arc soundbar to replace the Playbar and Playbase. Atmos support but as others have said it looks to be a bit of a gimmick for home use. I will be looking to upgrade to the Arc (or Beam) + sub + 2 Play1's when I refresh my TV.

We've got Sonos throughout the house and it just works (Maybe i'm getting lazy in older age). No faffing, works well with all the streaming services, your Local iTunes and it's great for TV. The tuning app works well too. SUB is over priced but it's amazing the difference it makes. TBH i'd question getting Play 1s as additional speakers for 5.1 when you've added the Sub in. |

I'd genuinely wait till you get the TV set up. The sound on our LG is as loud as I'd ever need at home. Maybe you're getting it for the pseudo surround but the bass and volume on our 65 LG is the loudest inbuilt TV I've ever experienced.
Could be money saved and not often I offer that

Even spending £300 on a 'cheaper' soundbar is worth it IMO. |

I have a Samsung MS650 and wireless rears - not Atmos.
Now, the soundbar is very good, but when you add in the rears then the lipsync is SO bad its un-watchable (even after adjusting the delay). Maybe the newer Samsungs are better, but...... |

confessed hifi geek and has a pretty high end system. I’ve had some challenges getting the TV optical digital output to play nicely with the hifi but the TV sound is decent enough that it’s not really bothering me at all. |

Had a play today as the TV arrived much earlier than it stated
Sound is actually pretty good. There is only 5cm to the bottom of the screen though so either a very low sound bar is needed or a slight raise in TV. Overall watching HDR 4k is amazing! Screen is fair bit bigger from the old 42inch plasma which I like but the expected fall out from Mrs 225. too big etc etc will hopefully pass... |

I have our Samsung TV connected up to a B&W Zeppelin via digital optical connection. Yes it's a fairly old speaker now but it still packs a great sound and being Apple airplay is great for steaming music from our iPhones, PC & laptop.
