Retrofitting Gesture Control on G20
Hi folks, Anyone know what replacement part and coding parameters to enable gesture control?
Looks like European guys have done it here https://www.facebook.com/INTERTUNING...86071794744639 It appears one will need to replace the overhead console with a unit that has a camera, and maybe additional wiring and coding. Tried searching for an overhead console with gesture camera on parts websites but only shows one w/o for G20... Wondering if a unit for G30 should be used. Much appreciate any help. |

It seemed cool when I first got it but I honestly never use it. It is hard to get to work and just takes more time to get it to recognize your fingers than using the buttons. Really only purpose it has is turning up volume and skipping songs, something you can do quicker with steering wheel buttons. Good luck though.

I was actually thinking of retrofitting this but would probably use it once and never again.

If you buy a used roof unit you would first need to code it the car, than VO code the car for the new Gesture option. Wireing to BDC may be needed depending on your options.

Don't bother, it keeps changing track when you hit the turn signal and sometimes mutes randomly. Donesn't recognize the volume up/down half the time.
And I know right, BMW owners actually using the turn signal, what is the world coming to |

It's a gimmick, don't bother trying to retrofit it. The only time I ever use it is to occasionally mute the radio. For everything else, it's more convenient to use the steering wheel controls.

I dont think this even needs to be retrofitted. When I lift my hand to the screen (livecockpit)
Theres a tab that appears up top. It definitely "sees" my hand so im in belief that its coding to enable it. But i dont see the need for it as I agree with the others its a gimmick. |
