North West Drives
Now restrictions on travel have lifted I'm looking to take some trips out especially while the weather is nice.
I would love to head into Wales but the restrictions on travel make it a no go at the moment and the Peak District is way to busy with bikes. Can anyone recommend some good roads and if anybody fancies meeting (within social distancing guidelines). Cheers

St Helens is good, the roads are pretty exciting especially around Parr and Earlestown as you just don’t know if you’ll come back in one piece, the adrenaline rush is second to none.

Horton-in-ribblesdale to ribblehead viaduct on B6479, then to Hawes on B6255 are two awesome roads. Then Hawes to Sedbergh and Sedbergh to Kirkby Lonsdale via A683.
Thats a good horseshoe shaped route, I reach Horton in ribblesdale via A683 and A65 which go through Gisburn - Long Preston - Settle, which are nice roads if a bit busy at weekends. Further afield would be kirkstone pass in the lakes to Ulswater, and Honister Pass which takes you to the Buttermere Valley which is beautiful. |

It's a long time since i've been and wasn't very impressed at the time so never went again.
The Corner House and the White Lion at Wrightington are both usually very good, along with the Wrightington Country Club - but again not been to either of them in while. Derby House for Lunch is excellent, my parents usually go every weekend and it's rammed! |

I think Top Gear have been filming over the last couple of days round Ribblehead viaduct in some classic '90s exotica, F40, Diablo and an XJ220. Parked up overnight at Holiday Inn in Lancaster, with a police guard!!

Most of the best bits are twisty enough not to need/be able to go over 60-70mph. Ribblehead to Hawes is very fast, but it's open moorland with long sight lines, so you can see if anything is coming/parked up, with nowhere to hide, which means you can make safe, fast progress if you stay well within your limits. |
