VW Arteon R Shooting Brake (or estate!)

Finally! A Volkswagen I could see myself in.

Looks good to me. Love that blue.[IMG][/IMG]

Yes just looking at it on pistonheads. Size is in-between a 3 and 5er so not too big and does look good.
Good lease or cheap pcp deal then it's got to be an option. Obviously no m340i touring but considerably cheaper monthlies not far after launch id imagine.
Tuning box seems to take the same engine gold to about 375bhp so not bad at all.

Me too, maybe not the R version but a 2 litre turbo with 240 hp sounds ok....

I think the R might be too expensive and too hard core for what I see as more of a waft machine...

I'd imagine an Arteon R shooting brake with a few bits wont be far shy of 50k list.... a lower powered petrol hatch in top spec currently lists at 44.5K...... I can imagine nearly new pre facelifts kicking around at £20k and a bit very soon!

I saw the Arteon R sedan at a VW dealer a few weeks ago and it looked stylish and upscale. It was pricey, I remember thinking almost priced like an Audi but do not recall the numbers.

everything is streamlined next to an X3....

I like the idea of the semi estate - the CLS estate was good looking, but too big, the CLA estate thing is also good looking in parts, but not really refined enough for me (the 45s would be a great party trick though...)

Mercedes have never done it with the c class which seems like missing a trick but maybe a 5 door version of a 4 door coupe version of a 2 door coupe version of a 4 door is a niche too many....

Given I dont really need the size and the dog seems quite happy in the front footwell, a new Mk 8 Golf GTi when it comes might be the VW I see myself in most....

I haven't seen one in the metal yet, but from what I have seen the Mk 8 Golf does nothing for me. There's something about the droopy front I just don't like. Maybe when I see a GTI in the showroom I might change my mind.

Must of been all the black flies round your end hitting my eyes then...

I guess it's just the VW DNA that just all looks fairly similar to me now...

Me neither and from what I have seen I dont much like the looks - but I cant see that when driving!

Lets face it the alternative is the m135i with a front only a mother could love...

CLA 2.0 is a nice car. Just a pity it is A class based so although the interior is great and up with the A3 etc, it's just not premium enough. The C is old tech and the E is too damned big. Applies to the CLS too. I quite like the Arteon, but they are BMW money. Silly really.

The M135i are growing on me! Maybe it's familiarity dulling the initial shock!

I kind of get what you’re trying to say there, but that does look a lot sexier than the Passat.

Garage List
I like the Arteon Sedan, also like Passat, but not offered Passat AWD.
Another VW that I like a lot is the Scirocco.
Unfortunately not available in USA, and now going out of production.

I think it's the droopy front that kills the arteon for me, and the estate bodyshape seems to emphasise it all the more.

You could always front park everywhere instead of reverse parking everywhere...
