Dealer faked an oil change??

Hey!

Can someone verify that I got dooped by my douche dealers for an oil change??

Took in my car for an oil change at about 18,000km.
They changed the oil, filter, etc - or so I was told.
I didn't bother checking the iDrive to see when the next one was due.
I now see that the iDrive says I'll need an oil change at 23,000km.

PLEASE HELP VERIFY THAT I GOT SCREWED by my dealer, and what I can do about it! Also - if there is another post on here about similar issue, then please point me to that.

THANKS!!
(DOOPED - my word of the day)

they did an oil change and reset your service indicator, what else you want them to do for oil change?

I want them to actually change my oil.
Shouldn't a BMW oil change last longer than 6000 km??

Changed oil at 18,000km
Indicator says do another change at 23,000km.

I only got it changed the first time because I had not driven the car for about 16 months, and wanted new oil. My dealer gives me an oil change every 12 months, or when the indicator says change is needed.

OBC countdowns on maintenance items. There is no system in our cars to tell you when a future maintenance item is exactly required i.e. exactly at 23,000km. Reference your other items like brake pad wear for e.g. and you'll see the numbers get smaller, closer to the time replacement is warranted.

My brakepad's been at 50,000km since I bought it.
Is something faulty, or do the pads just last that long?

Donny is correct with the count down.

As far as brake pads, I have driven over 60K miles on my car and my brake pads are still good (never done any brake job on my car yet). You must have manual transmission then or you are really good at saving your brake.

And no - I don't have a manual (which I regret now), but I down shift quite often on my auto (Tiptronic?).

Actually - do you know what happens to fuel consumption when you use engine brake? The RPM shoots up, so does it suck in fuel into the engine (for some reason like suction)? And is it harmful to the engine at all to down shift?

me no expert but when you downshift, your engine rev more (higher rpm) means uses more gas I suppose. But on a manual, I just leave it in gear and the car slow down without using much gas until around 15-20 mph then I see the mpg needle shoot up. Engine braking can lead to premature clutch wear I guess.

there's a line in the owner's manual that sets "fuel supply is interrupted while coasting"

Seems to me that in the very long run it is more economical to use your brakes to slow the car than the engine and transmission.
