ECU unlock
As many of you know g20s with the 11/19 update and after are not tunable via OBD port and requires a bench unlock before anything can be done...I would like to open this thread for anyone who has more info on the matter and can contribute info on solving this dilemma..Please do not hit us with JB4 talk, although its great for what it is its not relevant for this thread or ppl who want a flash tune i...Also if anyone knows any locations where we can pull up for a simple bench unlock In the NY try state area please share.

I've had my 2020 ECU unlocked before flashing with bootmod3.
There was no need to remove ECU, the garage simply used a couple of probes onto connection points on the ECU and performed some laptop based wizardry with a tool called autotuner. Autotuner have an insta account - perhaps you can find out if they have a dealer in your area? It cost me £125 GBP to have it unlocked. Be aware, there is a counter inside the ECU that clocks each time the ECU is flashed. You should be prepared to kiss goodbye to your warranty once you do this. |

i actually tried on my 2020 330i about 5 days ago and it wouldn't flash. I couldn't even register my vehicle as the ECU would boot me off every 4 seconds. bootmod3 issued me a refund, I wonder if they came up with a solution in the last few days?

If it's BM3 that you are after I think IG tristatebm3 can likely help. If you look at their IG account there is a phone number and contact info. If it's a general unlock you are after for another tuner I would imagine you would need to look elsewhere

As an interim solution if anyone is thinking of sending their DME to the tuner of their choice - I posted a high-level "how to remove your M340 DME" in the DIY section located here:
