My Mods

So I swore when I bought my 335i that I was not going to do ANY mods!!! Then I joined the forum and everything went to shit!

I figured I would give an impression of my mods so far and how I thought it changed the car.

First upgrade -
I went and had the windows tinted. Very happy with it and it certainly does keep the car cooler. All my cars always came from the factory with a tint so I never thought about it but this one was always really hot when I got in. The tint has reduced that somewhat and it looks a lot better than before too.

Second Upgrade -
Magnaflow CAT back exhaust. I wanted something that would offer a better sound than stock. I was not really concerned with power gains as I figured with the CATS still in etc I might get about 5HP and would never really feel anything. Well, the good news is that the power was in fact VERY noticeable. I had to turn the DTC back on driving home in the mountains as I was sliding the car much more than before and was not able to apply gas in the same way either. It was a really welcomes susprise and I was very impressed. They advertise 15RWHP and I think 10ft/lbs TQ. I have to admit that I think those numbers are pretty realistic. The downside was my gas mileage went out the window! I went from 21.4 mpg to 18.9mpg in the next 2 tanks of gas. Although I love the sound, it does drone on the freeway and that really bugs me. It seems to be getting a little better though, either that or I am getting used to it.

Third Upgrade -
AFE Twin Filter System. From all the hype on the box and on their website I was really thinking that I would be getting another jump in power etc. The install was not too tough really but not 30 min either. I was really a little dissapointed at first. I didnt feel much difference in the car at all. Over the next few days it certainly got better. One good thing is it took my gas mileage back up again and this last tank of gas I averaged about 22.3 mpg so we will see how it goes. The car didnt like it at first but it seems to have acclimated which I was amazed by! I probably would not do this upgrade again though if I had the choice. I think I would rather get a simple twin cone filter system like Vishnu has I believe. Easier to install and less expensive. Chances are the gains are the same.

Fourth Upgrade -
JBS2. WOW! I bought it expecting a mediocre improvement in power. After a lot of reading I thought I might not put it in at all since people were talking about it being jerky etc. Anyway, I put it in and was absolutely afraid of the car at first! Hahaha. You really can tell the difference in power. Its pretty dramatic I thought and I was addicted immediately! I drove a tank of gas through but dont remember what the mpg were. Got on with a Z06 on the freeway, we were getting on the onramp and he ripped up on my tail so I figured....COOOL! Lets see how this goes. I jumped on it and so did he. I held my own but he started walking on me at a certain speed which I wont mention. I was still happy that I was able to do what I did anyway! Besides, there is a simple solution to that problem right?? MORE POWER!!! The REALLY bad thing about the JBS2 is........there is a JBS3! Hahaha. So I took the JBS2 out yesterday and am sending it back to Terry for a JBS3 upgrade. Getting the pin-out version.

Today -
I put on a set of 19" MRR Wheels with the UltraC Sessante tires. I was not expecting to really "feel" anything but VERY pleasantly suprised by how much nicer the ride was with tires that were not run-flats! I felt like my car had new suspension the ride was so much better. Not only does the car look much nicer but the ride has dramatically improved! The tires I cant give real feedback on yet as I need to get them broken in. They are VERY slippery right now and if they stay like this I will be getting something else soon. I think it will be ok though. All in all - very happy with the upgrade.

I got in on the Aero Lip group buy too so hopefully that will come through soon.
My next upgrade is suspension. I am really torn on what to do there. I wanted to do just some sport springs to lower the car and quickly realized that was not the best idea. So I moved to an FSD/Eibach kit but then I moved on to the Coilovers and now I am in a state of complete confusion really.

Anyway - just wanted to give you guys my opinions on the upgrades so far...so there it is.
