2017 X3 sDrive28i First at Home Oil Change

Bought the car in February as CPO and did my first oil change at 3,200 miles. Got rid of the 0W-20 and put in Liqui Moly 5W-30. I bought a filter for an sDrive car, with what I thought was the plastic oil pan, plastic drain plug, but mine had a metal pan with a metal drain plug. I already had a bunch of crush washers so it wasn't a big deal.

Anyway, went smoothly. Didn't reset the oil indicator in the cluster since it still has around 4,100 miles left. Next oil change I will.

My wife's sDrive28i also came with a metal pan and metal plug. From what I was able to find online, everyone was saying sDrive comes with plastic pan and plug and xDrive comes with metal.

I used Pennzoil ultra platnium 5w20. Hoping that will slow down the oil burn compared to the factory 0w20.

The engine does run smoother and quieter using the pennzoil compared to bmw factory oil.

Interesting, what year is yours?

I didn't have any consumption, so hopefully it stays that way. I went with the 30 weight oil. 20is a bit thin IMO.

it's a 2016. During the first 3 years it didn't burn any oil at all. The after 3rd year it started burning about 1 qt every 2k miles.
