2020 X6 M50i with 22's confused about winter tire wheels

It seems like this has been talked about alot but I can't find anything specific that I can take to the bank.

I have an X6 M50i with the black 22" wheels running 275's up front and 315's in back. With winter approaching, I want to go to a 20" square setup with winter tires. According to wheelsize.com, the X6 M50i winter 20" square set up is as follows:

Wheel 20 x 9 x 35mm offset 5x112 bolt pattern with a 66.6mm bore
Tires are 275/45R20's.

Here is my list of questions:

Do I need to look for a rim that has an offset that is +/- 35mm by how much?

Is it better to have more or less offset?

Does positive offset position the wheel further out or in?

If I can't get the offset I need, can I add a spacer?

Is there a rule of thumb on how thick a spacer can be?

I assume you will need longer lug bolts if you use a spacer?

Will OEM lug bolts work with aftermarket wheels or do you need bolts specific to the rim you are purchasing?

Do aftermarket TPMS sensors compatible?

Thank you in advance for your help.

You're best bet is to go with a (used?) oem set of 20" wheels. However, if you must go aftermarket, stick to the width and offset/ET as best as possible.

Lower offset/ET = further away from the car. Higher offset = tucked under the car more.

Definitely dont go with a higher offset..... unless you are going with a wider wheel. You don't want to negatively affect the stability of the car. You can vary up the offset a bit... no big deal. You MUST be sure the hub bore matches, and of course, the lug pattern.

Yes, you can buy spacers. I wouldn't recommend anything over 20mm.

Yes, you will need extended lug bolts.

DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON CHINESE GARBAGE spacers or lugs. Buy the best you can (H&R). That is the LAST place on the car you want Chinese junk.

Usually the oem lug bolts are a bit wide, and may scratch your aftermarket rims. It depends on the rims.

TPM sensors.... are cheap. Just get an oem set on Ebay. Easy, no effort required.

Where in PA are you? I have my 22” black 742M OEM winter setup for sale if you wanted to carry that same look all year long.

Garage List
I found a set of OEM take offs there are several on ebay for 1600-2000. I found a set of 20s for 1700 shipped!

Used the blizzak LM001 W speed rated as well...

Now is a pretty good time before the snow flies:-)

Subscribed. I'm in the same boat as you OP. Looking for aftermarket 20" winter wheels, but no wheel retailers want to confirm fitment or not.

Please let me know what you find out and vice versa.

Unless I find them super cheap, I'd prefer to stay away from OEM. No reason, just personal preference.

I couldn't find a set of 740Ms for around $2K, so I just placed an order for a set of 20x9 +35 Forgestar CF10 wheels that are flow formed. They ran me $2K shipped :-) They will clear the larger M sport brakes.

For tires, I will go with the highly rated Bridgestone Blizzak DMV2s!

Do you guys have Oponeo in the USA. In Europe you just key in the G05 and they list all the aftermarket wheels that fit for either summer or winter set up. Once ordered they ring you also to discuss the order to make sure it fits exactly what you have. Full winter set ups from only £1500-3500. They also make sure the load rating is correct for the wheel.
