That's probably just a side effect of HDR post processing.

I don't think my wheels are that dirty (yet).

It was a 10-22mm EF-S lens (wide angle for the 1.6x crop bodies

). ISO 100 (on a tripod) and auto white balance. I generally correct in post. I shot and merged 3 exposures on some of the shots.
