E90 Stereo Coding
Evening All,
I’m new to the BMW scene, and have a 2006 E91 3 series. The CCC I drive module has failed, I believe this is a common fault. I have purchased a known working unit from another car but believe this will need some coding to work correctly in my car. I have plugged it in, and the display works, I can navigate all menus, select radio stations use the Sat-Nav but there is no sound output. I believe this is because the unit I’m fitting is coded for Logic 7, and my car does not have a Logic 7 amp. I have a full registered version of VCDS for VAG group vehicles, and I know my way around that fairly well but have to admit to being a bit lost with the BMW stuff. Inpa, Ista, Esys, NCS expert etc. etc. Can someone advise which software and hardware I need to be able to perform the required coding for the idrive module? As mentioned I have a proper VCDS OBD lead and various other OBD interfaces. I imagine that these may cover the hardware side of my requirements. Also, if anyone had a guide to show the steps specifically relating to changing the Logic7 coding that would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. John |

Standard Tools Inpa Suite.
All you need a K/D Can Cable. PC Laptop and the downloads. Bimmergeeks Cable and downloads recommended. Because you have a 2006 you can get away with this cable there was a bus change on cars made after 3/07 that required a more expensive Icom cable to program Modules on the Most bus which is basically all the entertainment/com modules. Once you have it set up all you will have to do is default/Factory Code the new unit. Copy's of the original coding are stored in two of the modules. (CAS and FRM) NCSexpert is the sub program you use to do this. Some of the canned programs like Pro Tool from Bimmergeeks may do this to not sure. Former BMW shop programs Ista D and Ista + high =level diagnostics with and attached database and guided troubleshooting all in English. Ista P = High level programming typicaly used to update the whole car and replace modules at the dealership. This can be a dangerous program to use . Use the coding sub forum for coding questions. https://www.nathansbmwworkshop.com/b...or-dean-videos Last edited by ctuna; 08-25-2020 at 04:41 PM.. |
