This has probably been done to death, but couldn't find this specific issue covered. When I connect my phone to my car (either via bluetooth or USB) and play spotify, I get the artwork and the song details of the very first tune I listen to.

However, from the 2nd tune onwards, the artwork and information remains the same as the first tune that was played. All that appears on the screen is the tune length bar which shows how how is left on the tune to play. So I've got an 8.8" screen which shows me nothing essentially! All the tunes play/stream absolutely fine though. Very annoying. Is this common?

Works fine on mine. I always plug my phone in though. And it’s an iPhone.

How bizarre! I don’t even know where to begin to try and “fix” it either. Really annoying though!

When you connect it do you get the sync with Spotify and the car? Particularly plugged in, you get the splash screen come up on the phone that it’s sync’d and then select Spotify as the source in the media menu?

I only occasionally get the BMW logo appear on my phone with Spotify, when plugged in, but the issue remains.

When I start Spotify on my phone, I always then click on media>external devices, then choose Bluetooth or USB, depending on how I’m connected, and play from there. Am I missing a trick here?

Have you got the latest software (phone compatibility from BMW)? Just a thought...

When you get the bmw logo Spotify should then show as another source in the media list with external, phone etc....

HI Sky, this might be a daft question, but these software updates wouldn't affect anything else would they (yes, remap or any other coding !), is it purely just a media update ?

Just a quick update. The software update has resolved that issue. In the media list, nothing has changed, and I don't see the BMW logo at all anymore... weird! But works perfectly, so thank you!

Probably being really stupid here (HAS BEEN KNOWN) every tim ei try to down load the file it keeps showing in the usb as an Adobe file, not the best at computers so is this right as its should be a BIN file according to the download, what am i doing wrong as dont want that all knowing look from either my good lady or BMW if i f*$k it up?

The BIN download is below the two pdf's. Right click on the button that says 'DOWNLOAD UPD 09051.bin' and select 'Open in new window' and it should ask you to save the .bin file in a location of your choice.

Artwork usually worked fine for me but what didn't work is the track timer/seeker thingy below the artwork.

I've found a way to fix it is to simply press the volume knob so it mutes the song and then press it again which makes everything work fine again.

I'm using the latest software for my car, connecting via cable I have no problem with Spotify but via bluetooth I have the same problem as your first post. Using iPhone XS anyone any suggestions.

Thanks for the link to the media update site - my 'new' '15 pre LCI car had issues with not playing Spotify through bluetooth and getting stuck on tracks. The software download from the link has now resolved it and it all works properly!

What type of phone are you using android or iPhone if later what model?

iPhone XR on iOS 13.7 as I've not yet got around to downloading iOS 14.

The car's a '15 plate with the Professional Nav system in it.
