Opinion on new stable addition

I have the itch to add one of the following to the stable and have a line on both:

2020 Audi R8 Performance
Or
2021 Porsche 992 Turbo S

I can pro and con both to death and I know the 992 is a good bit faster and I absolutely love it - but man - I really like the R8 and I am leaning that way hard since I found the perfect color and options. It’s also about 30K cheaper. F90 will be the daily. What are your thoughts? (Neither, just enjoy the F90 is a perfectly fine answer, too)

Be sure to drive both of them before making your decision. I own a 991.2 Turbo S, had an F90, F85, etc. Porsche is a totally different feel. You need to spend time in one to see if it is what you want.

Irony---

I am a Porsche fanboy all day everyday and have had 5 Turbos plus a GT3, GTS, and a few choice others. I love the performance that the 992 Turbo S brings to the table- there is no discussion there. The problem for me is that the car is not available yet and I want a "right now" car. Almost all allocations are done for early on and no deals will be made on a 230k msrp car up front.

Enter the gen 2 R8 facelift. I had a 2017 R8 non Plus and got an amazing offer on the car so I sold it a short while ago. But I missed that V10 song soooooooo much. There is no just replacing the sound and experience of the normally aspirtated 600 plus hp car in the 2020 Audi R8 Performance. Is the Turbo S faster, heck ya but it just isnt the same car and its not readily available. So I grabbed this car for about 45k less than a nicely optioned 992 Turbo S. Every day its a dream to rip it to 8750 rpms and listen to the engine just roar like no other. Its a dying breed with no more R8 in Audi's library and no 600 plus normally aspirated cars that have this intensity.

If exhaust engagement with great performance (not Turbo S level) but still a 10.7 car on the street at 131 makes you happy this is the car. To me its a more special car (to me I must repeat LOL).

I WILL get a 992 Turbo S- its a must but for now this car rocks:

Suzuka Gray with all the carbon trims available- msrp 216k.

Thanks! That's what I needed to hear. Think I am going with the R8 and will do the new Turbo S down the road while still loving the F90. Appreciate the great commentary for sure.

Normally I would always say 911, but like others have said, a NA V10 just takes the cake, it really is a dying breed.

R8 for sure. 911 is just too fast, too competent and therefore too sterile. it's a beast, but I think the R8 would be a better complement to the M5. if it were just your only car, I might suggest the other way around, but given you are keeping the M5, I vote for the R8 all day for the sounds and more special looks/feel/exclusivity

They are both quality engineered cars.

The R8 sounds good, the Turbo does not

The R8 looks exotic, the Turbo not so much

As a guy who had an R8 and drove multiple Turbo 991's.

R8 all day. It's every bit as livable as the Turbo (driving, not necessarily using it as storage).

That is absolutely beautiful. There is one Speedster in my neighborhood that I see once in a blue moon and the sound is just intoxicating. Definitely a keeper for sure.
