Help me code 5 blinks...please?!?!?

I have a 2014 435i, fairly well optioned. I'd like to code in 5 blinks of soft touch turn signals. I was following a guide by ThicF30 on youtube, but it appears his older version of BimmerCode is different than mine. In his video, you go to QUITBLK)_EN...Anyway, once you get to it, in his version of the app, it allows a 4 digit hex entry, example 00x3, but in my update version, it only allows 2 digits input, stock is set to 00. So what should I input in this field to get 5 blinks? Thank you!

In FEM expert mode 3060 Lce Master Blinkzyklen_anzahl_tipp you have the options of einmal, dreimal and custom value. In custom value 04 gives you five blinks. However, if you've had a dealer installed software update the option for custom value may not be there any longer, as BMW in their ultimate wisdom removed it.

I do have a custom value option, but it only lets me input 2 digits, whereas the tutorial I was using, showed 4 values being input.

I just wanted to make sure I can still do this. So instead of inputting 00x4 like the tutorial showed me, I will only input 04, correct?

Thank you for your time!

Put in 04, the other digits are always the same anyway. Your tutorial is probably obsolete, which is no surprise, as Bimmercode is constantly evolving.

I tried entering 04 as suggested, and I still got my stupid 3 blinks I reset it back to factory settings for now. Any other suggestions?

It worked for me, but I stopped taking my car to the dealer three years ago, when I found out that they would upgrade the iDrive software without my knowledge or permission, and when they did it would remove all of my coding.

Updated versions of the FEM do not allow for 5 blinks. I think it was 2017 that they implemented the update which removed the code for the 5 blinks completely.

The OP has a 2014, so the problem is likely a software update done since 2017, one he's probably not even aware of. I don't understand the 3 blink restriction, it's too short a duration to be of much use.

I have been in the same situation since BMW updated my car.

So there is no way to change this value?

If you got the updated software then there's no longer anything to code.

I believe the value is the number of blinks you want equals the werte value + 1. So if you want 3 blinks, you enter a value of 4. I changed mine to 6 and now have 5 blinks.

This also doesn’t work on my car since the dealer did an update after fitting a new steering rack.

BMW_340 is correct. The value for x blinks is x+1.
This is indeed no longer possible with updated firmware...

Not sure about that.

Unless you are talking purely about what the dealer might update using their system. I keep my firmware updated (from what you do with a USB) and mine still works.

What you do yourself with a USB isn't a full firmware update. What the dealer does will wipe all of your coding and render some items, like the number of blinks, inoperable.

The usb updates are small fixes for the media and telephone system only. We are talking effectively about the overall “firmware” that runs the car.
