[Paris Motor Show ] F01 7-Series iDrive2 system with full-internet flatrate
F01 7-Series iDrive2 system with full-internet
more coverage: http://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=175710 just to calm you down: Internet-access will only be available in Germany from now on (~13eur (=17usd)/month full-flatrate, EDGE). Other countries in EU to follow (at least the show-car was located in Paris and normally EDGE-connected there, so...) - but no dates for that yet. Especially no dates for the US. Can be more than a year from now - depending on customer-demand. UMTS will once follow, when the appropriate chips are available. A lot of additional services are to follow later, containing more in-car Entertainment (Videos, ...) and over-the-air-updated street-maps with the possibility to just update the driven part (not the whole country), .... I talked with the head of "ConnectedDrive-Development" about that and he showed me a lot of the functionality. after me asking him about the future of the system, he just smiled at me but didn't want to answer. He just said "we will get you fully connected and we will tell you, when it's here". |

The site looks awesome on that idrive screen. Man this second gen idrive looks so much better than the first version. Is the internet goin to be disabled while the car is in motion ? I can predict accidents happening while members browse bimmerpost while driving hah
