e92 Wipers are too Sensitive - even on the lowest 'auto' setting

I love this car, but the auto-sensing windshield wipers are too sensitive for me on the "auto" setting. There doesnt seem to be much of a difference between the high and the low setting (the control knob on the stalk).

Even on the lowest setting it seems like the wipers will activate even with a very small amount of rain on the windows.

Does anyone else have the same problem? My e46 had the same type of system, but the low setting was a lot less sensitive which I loved.

I'd even be willing to tape part of the sensor if that would reduce the sensitivity...

dude this is so crazy because it was pouring here in miami today and i noticed the same thing, they are far too sensitive in the lowest setting and changing between them does not make much difference... good observation!!!

I would much rather have the manual intermittent setting like my last car that has a wide range for mist/fog. The technology for rain sensor simply isn't accurate enough.

The automatic setting is waay too fast, it was barely sprinkling and the wipers were ready for a hurricane. I liked the E46's setting better.

Exactly. I have never been a fan of rain sensing wipers. Let me decide, not the car.

I think they work really well actually, never had any problems. Although I did go through a bug swarm once and the sensor thought it was rain hitting the windshield and then decided to turn on an smear everything around, lol. But at least you have the option to turn off the auto wipers.
