AWD Lock

Is there a way to turn on and leave the All Wheel Drive on for a 2019 BMW 330xi? Is it just automatic only?
Can I manually turn on the x-drive AWD?

In a word, no. It is automatic. However, AWD is, in fact, always on. It is rwd biased, but the front wheels are always getting power in normal conditions. xDrive does have the capability of directing 100% of the power to the rear wheels, but that would only happen if it sensed the front wheels had no traction at all.

I thought it was rear drive unless the rear broke traction. When in park the front axle is not engaged by the transfer case.

The default setup on perfectly dry pavement is 40:60, front to rear for rwd based cars. The system on the fwd cars is different. It is 100% fwd unless the front tires lose traction. In that case power is sent to the rear wheels.

Transfer clutch may be open in Park. For driving, on start up is 'calibrated' and fully active in motion.
